OOTD: Dolphin Hem Top

Hello everybody!
Even though it's been spring for over a month, it most certainly doesn't feel like here!
The weather is seriously bipolar. One week it was in the high 40's, then one day, it was 80 degrees!
Why can't it be summer already?
Here's one of the outfits I wore on a warm day.

(Forever 21 x)
This is called a Dolphin Hem Top. How funny is that?

(Forever 21 x)

(Forever 21 x)

(Forever 21; similar x/x)

(Payless Shoe Source x)

I have been obsessed with these shoes. I've always wanted oxfords and crochet shoes... and I got both!

Riv (x) and I posted another podcast on our other blog, The Little Black Bookmark (x). We did a Would You Rather book tag and sacrificed books (x). Please go check it out! If you like listening to us, don't forget to like the video and follow our blog.

Also... I CUT MY HAIR!!
The last time I had short hair was in fourth grade, so this was a huge step for me. I was super attached to my long hair and almost cried when it was cut off. I was torn between keeping my hair long and chopping it off. In the end, I decided I wanted a whole new look. I will be donating my hair, so if you have any suggestions to where I should donate it to, please comment down below! I feel like a brand new person with my short hair. This is going to take a while to get used to!

Thanks so much for reading. I'll see you soon!

My Prom Makeup

Hello everybody!
If you've been following my blog, you'd know I recently went to prom. So this week I'm going to show you what I used for my makeup.

Primer:

Neutrogena Shine Control primer x
Benefit the Porefessional x

Revlon ColorStay Foundation in 300 Golden Beige x

e.l.f. Eye Primer & Liner Sealer x
I used the primer on my eyelids and the sealer on my eyeliner.

For my brows and eyeshadow, I used this palette from Victoria's Secret. I don't think they sell this anymore, but the colors I used are very basic.

For my brows, I used a matte black.

I used a cool toned pink with simmer all over my eyelid.

I used a light cool toned brown with simmer as a transition shade and a dark matte brown in the crease.

Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen x
I lined my eyes and added a flick at the corners.

Then I curled my eyelashes and applied mascara.

Maybelline the Falsies Volum' Express x
Maybelline Mega Plush Volum' Express x
I apply the Falsies first to keep hold the curl in my lashes and then use Mega Plush. I only use Mega Plush on my bottom lashes.

Elf Natural Lash Kit x
(It took my forever to get these on. My hands were shaking so much, ahaha)

After I finished my eye makeup, I added a second layer of foundation for extra coverage.

Maybelline Fit Me concealer in 20 Sand and 25 Medium x
I mixed the two shades together to get the perfect shade. I used these on any blemishes the foundation didn't completely cover and the redness around my nose.

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer & Highlighter in 245 Light x
I used this under my eyes to hide my dark circles.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 004 Sandstrom x
My face gets oily as the day goes on, so I paid extra attention to my T-zone.

e.l.f. Contour Blush & Bronzing Powder x
I only used the bronzer from this duo. The color is actually lighter in real life. I used it in the hollows of my cheek, my temples, and around the top of my forehead.

Nars Blush in Deep Throat x (left)
Deep Throat is a peachy color with shimmer. I could have used the blush in the e.l.f. duo, but I got this one as a present and really wanted to use it. I put this on the apples of my cheeks and blended upwards towards my temple.

e.l.f. Studio Golden Bronzer x
I used the bottom left color as a highlighter. I put it on top of my cheekbones, on top of the blush, down my nose, corners of my eyes, my cupid's bow, a little bit on chin, a little bit on the middle of my forehead, and under the arc of my eyebrows.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick in 107 x
This is my absolute favorite lipstick, so it made sense to use it for prom. Usually I wear it during the fall and apply many coats to make it a darker color. But for prom, I applied two thin coats for a lighter berry red color.
I blotted between coats to make it last longer.

e.l.f. Makeup Mist & Set x
This help set my makeup and made sure it didn't come off through the night.

Here are the brushes I used:

Left to right:
Essence of Beauty Foundation Brush for foundation
EcoTools Eye Enhancing Duo set x for brows and eyeshadow
Essence of Beauty Concealer Brush for concealer
Revlon Powder Brush x for powder
Revlon Eyelash Curler x for eyelashes
Real Techniques Contour Brush x for contouring
Real Techniques Stippling Brush x for blush
Real Technique Detail Brush x for lips

Here's what it looked like at the end:

Sorry about the bad lighting.

One tip for applying makeup for prom: practice, practice, practice. You'll only get better. Before prom, you'll be all excited and full of energy. It'll be hard to concentrate. Practice exactly what you're going to put on, especially fake eyelashes.
If you're going to prom, I hope you have fun!

Thanks so much for reading. I'll see you soon!

Haul: Prom Makeup Part 2

Hello everybody!
Here's part 2 of my prom makeup haul. If you haven't already, here's part 1 x.

I got the first 3 things from Target:

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 20 Sand $5.49 x
I found this concealer a bit too light for me, so I bought another one, as you will see later.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation in 300 Golden Beige $9.99 x.
At first, the foundation is the color it is in the bottle, but after a while, it becomes a lot darker.

Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen in 001 Blackest Black $5.99 x
I love liquid eyeliners the most. They give you a nice crisp line. They don't get smudgey like pencils do and they're easier to put on than gel (at least that's what I think).

The next 3 things are from Harmon's Face Values.

Essie in Aruba Blue $8.49 x
I love Essie nail polishes. They last forever, even without a top coat. They're just more expensive than the nail polishes I usually buy, so my wallet cries every time I buy one.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 25 Medium $5.29 x
Like I said before, Sand is too light for me. Unfortunately, the next shade down is Medium, which is too dark for me. So I have to mix the two shades together, which is such a hassle!

Neutrogena Eye Makeup Remover $6.49 x
I've just always used this remover, so I bought another one.

The last product is from CVS.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 004 Sandstorm $5.69 x.
I have heard so many YouTubes talk about this powder and how much they love it, so I just had to try it out.

So that's all the prom makeup I've bought. My prom was last Thursday, so I'll probably write a post on that later.

Also, Riv (x) and I posted another podcast on our blog, The Little Black Bookmark (x). Feel free to check it out. This time we talked about books we read in middle school. x

Thanks so much for reading. I'll see you soon!

OOTD: Hitting The Gym

Hello everybody!
Kind of going along with the prom theme from the last post... I've been going to the gym more often to get in shape for prom. Alas, going to the gym plus going on a vegan diet for one month has only resulted in the loss of one pound. I don't know what I expected, losing one pound for me is pretty good... considering I cheated on my diet many times (chocolate, though, I can't resist!) Not to mention the day Zayn left One Direction I ate a whole bar of chocolate (I was mourning, okay?)
My sister has a membership at New York Sports Club (x), so I go with her whenever I can (or whenever I can get myself out of bed... usually I can't). I've gone a few times in March. Usually I just go on the elliptical, the bike, or the treadmill. Once, I attended a Zumba class.
So I go to the gym to do cardio and do strength training at home. Sorry, but I don't feel comfortable lifting my ten pounds compared to the guy next to me lifting a hundred. I follow Cassey Ho's Blogilates videos (x).  I will rave about her in my March/April favorites.
So here's something along the lines of what I wear to the gym.

(American Eagle; similar: x/x)

(Target; similar: x/x)

(Sports Authority; similar x)

(Haha, oops, they're kinda dirty)

(Reebok; similar x)

I wear long pants to the gym because it's March (April) and it's still cold. I mean, it just snowed a couple days ago, I'm not wearing anything shorter than these leggings.
So that's it! If you have any weight loss tip, please leave them in the comment below. It's already too late to lose anymore weight (safely) before prom this year, but I could always use any of your tips next year.
Thanks so much for reading. I'll see you soon!
